Best Asus ZenBook Pro Duo X582 Review: This device stands out from the rest

Asus ZenBook Pro Duo X582: The premium offering by Asus ZenBook Pro Duo laptops has dual screens. In 2019, the first-generation Asus ZenBook Pro Duo laptops were launched.

The company has returned with the new ZenBook Pro Duo 15. The announcement of the laptop was made at the Consumer Electronics Show 2021. The device was tested for a while and we have our review.

Asus ZenBook Pro Duo Ultra UX582: Design & Display

You will see the dual-display layout once you remove the box from the laptop. The primary display is 15.6 inches in size with smaller bezels at the sides. The secondary display is located on the upper edge of the laptop’s body.

The Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX582’s design features the Ergolift design. To allow for better airflow, the secondary screen is raised by a 9.5-degree angle. The hinge pushes the display slightly higher, which provides a better viewing experience and separates the displays.

The secondary display can also be read better thanks to the reduced glares and reflections. The hinge mechanism is strong and cannot be broken. We recommend that you exercise caution.

The keyboard-touchpad setup is located below the ScreenPad Plus (or the secondary screen). While the touchpad is positioned towards the right, the keyboard appears compact. The ScreenPad Plus can be activated/disabled by pressing a separate key on the laptop.

Two USB Type-C ports are located on the right and one USB-A USB 3.0 Gen 2 port. On the left, you will find the 3.5mm headphone Jack, HDMI 2.1 port, and charging port.

The Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX582 laptop is thick and heavy. It measures 359x249x21.5mm and weighs 2.34kg.

The laptop is too heavy to be carried around in a backpack. This is because most laptops that are performance-heavy are so bulky. ZenBook Pro Duo UX582 certainly isn’t an exception.

Let’s now look at the display side of the laptop. It is an OLED screen with 4K UHD NanoEdge technology. It is touch-enabled and has 178-degree viewing angles. The display has a peak brightness of 440 nits and a 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut.

Asus claims that the display has a response speed of 0.2ms, which is ideal for gamers and creators. It is Pantone-validated. This means that you don’t have to worry about color accuracy.

The laptop also comes with TUV Rheinland certification, which indicates low-blue light emissions. The laptop is easy to use for extended sessions, without putting too much strain on your eyes.

ScreePad Plus features a 14.1 inch 4K color-calibrated display at 3840×1100 pixels. The IPS panel screen offers a maximum brightness of 400 nits. It provides accurate color reproduction and enough contrast and vividness. It is more than a fancy addition.

You can drag a window to the ScreenPad Plus from the main screen. You can also choose to have one window on each screen.

To make it easier to access, users can customize toggles on the secondary display. You can also access the Control Centre, brightness, and other settings from the Quick Settings menu.

You can also use Adobe apps such as Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects. Both screens include support for Stylus Pen.

Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX582 Keyboard and Trackpad

The trackpad and keyboard can be moved to adjust the secondary display. The keyboard and trackpad are smaller than other Asus laptops. The compact design can take a while to get used to. You will love how easy and smooth it is once you have overcome this obstacle.

The Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX582’s key travel is very satisfying. The keys click easily and are quick. One-click access is possible to activate/disable Touchpad, project the screen, and turn on/off keyboard backlight.

The laptop also has dedicated keys to screen snip, fan speed toggle, and ScreenPad Plus disable/enable buttons.

The fan toggle allows users to choose between Standard or Performance modes. It also contains the key, which allows users to switch screens from primary to secondary or vice versa. These keys are extremely useful and come in handy.

The touchpad is slightly smaller and taller than other laptops. It performs well and is responsive. There are no complaints. The touchpad can be used to turn the number pad on/off. To choose between two brightness levels, tap on the icon in the upper-left corner.

Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX582: Performance

We received the highest-end configuration of Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX582 as our review unit. It has a 10th Generation Intel Core i9-1010980HK processor and 32 GB MHz DDR4 RAM. Dual-screen laptop features 1TB M.2 SSD storage and NVME PCIe3.0 x4 SSD storage.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 3070 comes with 8GB DDR6 to handle graphics. These specifications are important because the machine must be able to handle heavy-editing tasks without compromising performance.

It has a remarkable performance speed. It can handle basic functions without any problems. The laptop is a great choice for editors. This laptop makes editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro easy.

The SSD storage is PCIe. This laptop offers faster boot times and quicker app loads. The laptop also offers faster data transfer speeds.

The Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX582 includes the latest ScreenPad Plus software and ScreenXpert 2. The built-in apps such as the Control Panel app, which adjusts layer transparency and changes brush size, can improve productivity.

These tools can be very useful for graphic designers and video editors. The secondary display works now with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, and Premiere Pro. The ScreenXper app for the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX582 can now be used to run third-party apps. Asus claims that there will be more compatible apps in the future.

It’s not unusual for a performance-based machine to heat up, and this is the case with Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX582. The heating shouldn’t affect the workflow, however. To regulate airflow, the laptop has a dual fan setup.

It features an Ergolift hinge and tilting ScreenPad Plus. It works great. Active Aerodynamic System Plus also maintains temperature under control. Standard performance fans are quieter. They can become louder as they increase in volume.

The speaker grille can be found on the underbelly of the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX582’s audio section. Harman Kardon certified them. They are not the best quality and have average audio levels.

An AI-Noise canceling microphone is included with the laptop. The webcam can also be found at the top of the screen. The laptop also offers Wi-Fi 6, which allows wireless connectivity.

Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX582: Battery

It houses a massive 92-watt lithium polymer battery. The laptop comes with a power brick that can charge it at 240 watts. However, there is no USB Type C charging. Each case will have different battery life. The laptop will last for more than five hours when the Battery Saver mode is on.

This is good for everyday tasks like web browsing and office work. The battery life of heavy tasks like video editing or gaming can be significantly reduced. The laptop can only last for 3 hours if you’re using both displays.

We would add, however, that the laptop is not suitable for people who are constantly on the move or those who work from their couch/couch/bed. They tend to charge the device at least twice a day so it can last for a few hours before needing another charge.

The laptop’s intended user will most likely be a video editor, creator, or graphic designer. Given the laptop’s 2.34kg weight, they won’t have to move it. It will instead be placed on a desk close to the PowerPoint. It can then be easily plugged in when it is needed.

The Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX582 laptop is anything but a regular, ordinary laptop. This powerful workstation is packed with high-end specs, both on paper and in terms of performance. Asus has maintained a sleek design despite having dual displays.

It has made significant improvements, such as the hinge mechanism. This is both practical and functional. This generation’s secondary display is an improvement from the previous one.

These features, along with a price tag of Rs 2,79,990 make the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX582 stand out. Although the price may seem high, once you get started with the laptop, there’s no turning back. It will be a familiar theme to creators.
